From the outside, government decision-making does not always seem straightforward. Government and its agencies have different drives than commercial business meaning process can appear slow or complex. This workshop is designed to unpack the logic of government decision-making, including the range of drivers that influence the outcomes. From political considerations to the role of media and marginal electorates, you’ll gain insight into identifying potential risks and opportunities in government engagement activities.
Who should attend?
Whether you currently work in the public sector, have regular engagement with public sector agencies or have a role that has implications for government stakeholders, this course will bring you up to speed in understanding the complexities of government decision-making.
- Develop familiarly with the roles and interactions of decision-makers and influencers (Political vs Departmental; Ministers vs Members).
- Understand how to build, maintain and leverage value in key relationships with government stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities within your role to support your organisation in undertaking government engagement activities including recognising threats and priorities to developing relationships across government.
These workshops are held at our offices in the CBD with attendees from diverse backgrounds. This provides opportunities to share a broad range of experiences, ask questions and contribute discussion with peers.
